M-Engineering Porsche 991.1 / 991.2 GT3 & GT3 RS ECU Tuning with Live Map Switching
The naturally aspirated GT3 and GT3 RS respond especially well to calibration when the goal is to sharpen response, optimize supporting modifications and extract more from the engine without changing the character that makes these cars special. M-Engineering's ECU tuning is designed specifically around the Porsche 991 GT platform, with Stage 1 and Stage 2 calibrations available for both 991.1 and 991.2 applications.
This listing covers the Porsche 991.1 GT3 and GT3 RS as well as the 991.2 GT3 and GT3 RS, with calibration matched to the exact generation, fuel and hardware installed on the car.
What the tune changes
M-Engineering recalibrates the factory ECU around the vehicle's actual hardware and fuel configuration. The focus is on improving response, optimizing fueling and ignition, and making proper use of intake, exhaust and header changes while continuing to utilize the factory ECU's built-in engine safety strategies.
- Calibration developed specifically for the Porsche 991 GT3 platform
- Supports 991.1 and 991.2 GT3 / GT3 RS applications
- Stage 1 and Stage 2 calibrations available
- 91, 93, 100 octane and E85 calibrations available
- On-the-fly Live Map Switching available
- Multiple calibrations can be stored in the ECU at the same time
- OEM ECU engine safety strategies retained
- PDK tuning available separately for compatible cars
Stage 1 and Stage 2
The correct calibration depends on the hardware installed on the vehicle. M-Engineering offers separate Stage 1 and Stage 2 configurations so the tune can be matched properly rather than applying one generic file to every car.
- Stage 1: Intended for cars retaining the factory headers, with either the stock or a compatible aftermarket exhaust and stock or aftermarket drop-in air filters.
- Stage 2: Intended for cars equipped with aftermarket headers, with either the stock or aftermarket exhaust and stock or aftermarket drop-in air filters.
Both stages are designed around the factory fuel system. If your car has a more specialized intake, exhaust, fuel or engine configuration, contact us before ordering so we can confirm the correct tuning path.
Live Map Switching
Live Map Switching allows multiple calibrations to remain stored in the ECU at the same time. The driver can change between maps using the factory cruise-control stalk while the engine is running, so there is no need to shut the car down or reflash the ECU every time fuel or use changes.
A typical M-Engineering map configuration can include:
- Slot 1: Stock Power
- Slot 2: 93 Octane
- Slot 3: 100 Octane
- Slot 4: E85
- Slot 5: Valet
Map-slot configuration can be customized depending on the vehicle and intended use. If you need a different fuel combination or map arrangement, contact us when ordering.
Why Live Map Switching matters
A GT3 that sees both street and track use may encounter very different fuel depending on where it is driven. Live Map Switching makes it possible to keep the appropriate calibrations in the car and select the map that matches the fuel actually in the tank instead of compromising around one fixed tune.
It also gives more specialized builds additional flexibility, whether the car regularly moves between pump fuel, race fuel or an ethanol-based setup.
Built around your hardware
Header and exhaust changes can significantly affect how these engines respond to calibration. If the car is already modified, send us a complete hardware list when ordering so the correct stage and fuel map can be selected.
If your setup falls outside the normal Stage 1 or Stage 2 requirements, contact us before ordering and we can review the build with you.
PDK tuning available
M-Engineering also offers separate PDK calibration for compatible 991 GT3 and GT3 RS models. PDK tuning allows additional adjustment of transmission behavior including shift points, clutch pressure, shift firmness, shift speed, paddle response and other transmission functions.
PDK tuning is not automatically included with the ECU calibration and should be selected separately if desired.
ECU service notes
The factory ECU requires a bench procedure, so it must be removed from the vehicle and shipped to M-Engineering for the initial calibration process. M-Engineering lists a typical turnaround of approximately 24 hours after receiving the ECU, although actual timing can vary.
Once your order is processed, follow the supplied shipping instructions carefully and include the requested vehicle, fuel and modification information so the calibration can be prepared correctly.
RWE support
We work with M-Engineering calibrations on track-focused Porsche builds and can help determine the correct stage, fuel and supporting hardware for your GT3 or GT3 RS. If you are unsure which option is right for your car, contact us with the generation, current modifications, fuel and intended use before ordering.
Disclaimer: ECU calibration can affect vehicle reliability, emissions compliance and manufacturer warranty coverage. The vehicle owner is responsible for ensuring the vehicle is mechanically sound, correctly modified and operated within the requirements of the selected calibration.
Return Policy: M-Engineering software calibrations are vehicle-specific and all sales are final and non-refundable.
California customers: These calibrations are intended for off-road and competition use where applicable. California customers must complete the required RWE CARB compliance documentation before the ECU can be returned.
