M-Engineering Porsche 992 GT3 / GT3 Touring / GT3 RS ECU Tuning with Live Map Switching
The naturally aspirated 4.0L engine in the modern Porsche GT3 family responds extremely well to careful calibration. M-Engineering ECU tuning is designed to sharpen throttle response, optimize fueling and ignition timing, remove the factory top speed limiter and make better use of supporting modifications without changing the fundamental character of the engine.
This listing covers both 992.1 and 992.2 GT3 applications, with the calibration built specifically around the generation, model, fuel and hardware installed on your car.
Supported applications
- Porsche 992.1 GT3
- Porsche 992.1 GT3 Touring
- Porsche 992.1 GT3 RS
- Porsche 992.2 GT3
- Porsche 992.2 GT3 Touring
What the tune changes
M-Engineering recalibrates key areas of the factory engine management system including throttle response, air/fuel ratio and ignition timing. OEM ECU engine safety strategies remain active, while the calibration is optimized around the selected fuel and vehicle configuration.
- Improved throttle response
- Optimized air/fuel ratio and ignition timing
- Top speed limiter removal
- Stage 1 and Stage 2 calibration options
- On-the-fly Live Map Switching
- Multiple fuel calibrations stored simultaneously
- OEM ECU engine protection strategies retained
- Calibration matched to the specific GT3 generation and configuration
Stage 1 and Stage 2
M-Engineering offers Stage 1 and Stage 2 calibrations depending on the hardware installed on the vehicle.
- Stage 1: Intended for cars retaining the factory headers, with either the stock or a compatible aftermarket exhaust and stock or replacement air filters.
- Stage 2: Intended for cars equipped with aftermarket headers and the supporting hardware required for the Stage 2 calibration.
If your car has a different intake, exhaust, header or fuel configuration, contact us before ordering so we can verify the correct calibration.
992.1 Performance
For the 992.1 GT3 and GT3 Touring, M-Engineering publishes approximate gains of +30 wheel horsepower and +25 wheel torque for Stage 1, and +40 wheel horsepower and +30 wheel torque for Stage 2.
The 992.1 GT3 RS is rated at approximately +30 wheel horsepower and +25 wheel torque for Stage 1, with Stage 2 rated at approximately +44 wheel horsepower and +29 wheel torque on 93 octane pump fuel.
Actual output will vary with fuel quality, vehicle condition, supporting modifications and testing conditions.
Live Map Switching
On-the-fly Live Map Switching allows multiple fuel calibrations to remain stored in the ECU at the same time. Maps are selected using the factory cruise-control stalk while the engine is running, eliminating the need to connect a laptop or reflash the ECU every time fuel quality changes.
Standard fuel maps include:
- Slot 1: ACN91 for Arizona, California and Nevada 91 octane
- Slot 2: 91 Octane / 95 RON
- Slot 3: 93 Octane / 98 RON
- Slot 4: 100 Octane / 103 RON
This is especially useful for cars that see both street and track use, travel between regions with different fuel quality or regularly switch between pump and higher-octane track fuel.
992.2 GT3 and GT3 Touring
The 992.2 GT3 and GT3 Touring use the newer H80 MG1 ECU. These ECUs are locked from the factory and require a more involved unlock and flashing procedure than the earlier 992.1 platform.
M-Engineering's 992.2 calibration retains the same core benefits, including improved throttle response, optimized fueling and ignition, top speed limiter removal and Live Map Switching, but also introduces an additional engine safety strategy developed specifically within the calibration.
Detonation Defense
On supported 992.2 calibrations, M-Engineering adds a fifth safety map known as Detonation Defense. The system monitors for excessive knock activity and can automatically move the ECU into a reduced-power safety calibration when a predefined threshold is exceeded.
Once conditions return to normal, the engine can return to the selected performance calibration. This operates in addition to the existing OEM ECU engine protection strategies.
- Slot 1: ACN91
- Slot 2: 91 Octane / 95 RON
- Slot 3: 93 Octane / 98 RON
- Slot 4: 100 Octane / 103 RON
- Slot 5: Engine Safety / Detonation Defense
Built around your car
The correct calibration depends on more than just the model year. Headers, exhaust systems, intake components and fuel all affect what the engine needs. When ordering, make sure we know the exact vehicle, installed hardware and fuel you intend to use so the appropriate calibration can be selected.
If your build falls outside the normal Stage 1 or Stage 2 configurations, contact us before ordering and we can review the setup with you.
ECU service notes
The factory ECU must be removed from the vehicle and shipped in for the initial programming procedure. M-Engineering currently lists approximately 24-hour to next-business-day turnaround after receiving the ECU for supported applications, although actual turnaround can vary.
The newer locked ECU used in 2025+ 992.2 GT3 models requires additional work compared with the 992.1 ECU, so 992.2 customers should expect a longer overall workflow.
RWE support
We work with M-Engineering calibrations on track-focused Porsche builds and can help determine the appropriate generation, stage and fuel map for your car. If you are unsure which option to select, contact us with your exact GT3 model, modifications, fuel and intended use before ordering.
Disclaimer: ECU calibration can affect vehicle reliability, emissions compliance and manufacturer warranty coverage. The vehicle owner is responsible for ensuring the vehicle is mechanically sound, correctly modified and operated within the requirements of the selected calibration.
Return Policy: M-Engineering software calibrations are vehicle-specific and all sales are final and non-refundable.
California customers: These calibrations are intended for off-road and competition use where applicable. California customers must complete the required RWE CARB compliance documentation before the ECU can be returned.
